It’s November 22. A significant day in our household. Today the bride and I celebrate 31-some-of-them-wonderful years. I tell our story here: From this Day Forward From this Day Forward.
November 22 is also a sigificant day in history. Most notably it was on this day in 1963 that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. I was five years old, but I remember that we learned the news when my brother was

sent home early from school.
Aldous Huxley and C.S. Lewis also passed away on this day in 1963.
I need to read more and about all of these men.
For me, Thanksgiving vacation has begun.
We’ll be off to spend time with family. To eat too much. To talk about the past. And to promise to do a better job of staying in touch over the next year.
Of course there will be the parade. That’s right, one parade. None of this switching to random parades all over the country.
Thanksgiving morning was made for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC, that’s channel 10, WSLS out of Roanoke.
We’ll probably watch the dog show whilst waiting for an acceptable time to eat, and there will likely be football.
We all have our Thanksgiving traditions. Some are great. Some are awkward.
All across the country the “experts” are warning us all not to talk politics. I for one never intended to.
Thanksgiving remains one of my favorite holidays. Because, even with the parade, and the football, and the required menu, for the most part it remains less commercial than the other holidays.
We can remember it’s a time to be thankful for the things we have.
Even if we think we don’t have much, if we have a home, and food, we’re pretty blessed.
I’ll be posting the next two days, but you should be warned that they’re canned posts, as in pre-prepared.
Read them if you can, but not if it means turning away from the family table, or even the family argument.
