Well, this is awkward

According to the Interwebz where everything is true, today is “National Awkward Moments Day.”

And I don’t have a thing to wear.

Which, when you think about, could be really awkward.

Go ahead.  Bleach the eyes.  I’ll wait.

What I want to know is who decided that today would be “National Awkward Moments Day?”

Is this yet another Hallmark and retail store conspiracy to get us to spend money we don’t have?  Again, that would be awkward.

Why does everything we do have to have a its own special day?

In the world where I grew up, every day is “Awkward Moments Day.”

Trust me, I’m 56-years-old and there are awkward moments from my life that are seared in my memory.

I don’t need a day to remind me about them.

Mark Twain said:

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Maybe that’s why I’m an introvert.

Sometimes it’s just safer to keep quiet.

Except, of course, when the silence is awkward.
