The Blogger Went Down to Georgia

As noted on Monday, I made quick trip to Georgia this week to say goodbye to a dear cousin.

Larry was loved. Larry was respected. He was a leader in his community and in his church.

Perhaps I’ll write more about it at some point. I’ve often said that my cousins and I grew up more like siblings. We were all very close. There are stories. In fact, somewhere around here there’s the basis for a book of stories…all in due time.

The trip was quick. I left after work and drove halfway. Again, more about the trip later. But let’s just say that I’ve always loved traveling in the South. And, I’ve always loved spring in the south.

More later on many fronts because I came back to a buttload of work. Not only my own projects, but when I checked the day job email yesterday things were blowing up. Nothing that can’t be handled. In fact I’m off to handle them as soon as I get this posted.

What’s that meme? Lack of planning on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part. Except when the lack of planning is done, or not done as the case may be, by your overlords.

I have more thoughts. Part of the trip inspired me to do some more writing, and I’ll get to it.

But, I made the silly mistake of deciding to drive all the way home following the funeral. I got home at 3:00 a.m. because I had to make multiple stops just to stay awake. I have dubbed that trip my East Cost Junk Food Tour. Today my arthritis is reminding me why I don’t eat like that on a regular basis.

It’s Thursday. I’m not going to snark about it being 420 day…of course if it helped with the arthritis…no…not today. And that’s all I will say about that.

Did I mention that I’ll be in Georgia again in two weeks? More later.

I’m getting on with the day. I’m regrouping on the work front. I’m regrouping on the nutrition front.

Once more unto the screech, dear friends.

See you tomorrow.

WHAT I’M READING

I set the bar low for my Goodreads challenge this year. Last year I didn’t hit the 25 book mark. Thanks to Audible and a determination to actually spend time reading this year, I’m currently 12 books ahead on this year’s challenge…still 25 books. I’ll hit that. And I may increase the goal. May. For now it feels good to be ahead on something…

Thanks to the extended deadline, I got our taxes filed yesterday.

On a side note, I have listed both kidneys for sale on eBay.

Look, we have to agree with this basic premise:

The government takes too much. The government spends to much.

If we can’t agree on that as a starting point, we’re all going to be paying too much while continuing to be disappointed in our government.

Oh…well then…

I don’t know about you but I accomplished quite a bit over the weekend.

No, I didn’t get through my full to-do list (ask the neighbors about the yard), but I accomplished quite a few things.

Including the annual filing of the extortion payments…I mean taxes.

At least they’re done for this year.

While the actual date was yesterday, I cannot move past April 16 without remembering that horrible day on the Virginia Tech campus in 2007. I still recall my son and his friends anxiously waiting to hear that their friends were okay. It was an awful day.

I don’t have the solution to this and other senseless acts of violence. I just know that it’s not arguing about it on social media.

Just FYI, I won’t be here Tuesday and Wednesday. I need to make a quick trip to Georgia for a family funeral. It’s the right thing to do.

Like I said Friday.

Cherish the moments. Cherish the people.

I’ll see you Thursday.

So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory!
We know that this Man is a sinner.”

He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know.
One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
