Hail Friday

Blessed art Thou among weekdays.

I don’t know about you but I’m really needing a weekend. I’m not going to get much of one.

Let’s just say that, for the past two weeks, I’ve been pushing the limits.

I’m not anything special. You probably have been too. Afterall, the younguns are back in school.

In our house, due to the current vehicle situation, that involves some extra round trips between here and the college campus.
That’s changing in a couple of weeks. But for now I’m spending about two hours a day on the road.

On the plus side, I’ve just about finished the Shakespeare History Plays on Chopped Bard.

So, I need a weekend.

I’m not really getting one.

Tonight we’re going to the theater. This will be the first live stage production we’ve seen since the beginning of the pandemic.

Tomorrow morning my wife and I will go to a funeral that numbers eleven deaths of family and close friends since April. She’ll go tomorrow afternoon to number twelve, the funeral of a student.

Too much death.

We rather selfishly don’t want to hear about any more. Not any time soon.

But we still have three and a half months left of this year.

For me, rehearsals begin soon for the wearing of the red suit.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa rehearsal.

So while this weekend may not be restful, it’s a break from the weekday routine. And I welcome that.

See you Monday.
