I think when Neil wrote that he was thinking about today’s blog post.
It’s 9:40 p.m. on Monday evening as I’m writing this and my new journal has me scheduled to be in bed in twenty minutes.
Either I’m not going to make that or this post isn’t going to be written.
I’m working with a new journal that helps me block out the whole day and encourages me not to leave any blank space, even if I’m relaxing or resting or just wasting time.
I had no blank space over the weekend. I did manage to get yesterday’s post done. But my weekend goal is generally to do the posts for the week.
That goal was not met this past weekend.
And, that’s okay.
There will be days like that. There will be days when writing my thousand words will be the bulk of the writing that I do.
The lesson is that, even if there are days when I don’t get as much writing done as I would like I’m not giving up.
I won’t beat myself up because I didn’t finish that edit or revision.
I could go on, but the point is that every day we make a list of things we want to accomplish.
Your list may not involve writing and word counts, but you have a list, just as I do.

Some days we make it through the list. Some days we don’t.
And that’s okay.
The point is that come sunrise, there’s a new day in front of us.
Unless you’re a vampire, but that’s a different story.
We all have the same amount of time in a day.
I’m working in my new journal to do a better job of scheduling it. I’m trying to be realistic in setting smaller, more accomplishable goals.
It’s a work in progress.
My calendar fills up and there’s little blank space because new projects and opportunities arrive. This week I was offered two new theater experiences.
Well, of course, I said yes. Don’t be silly.
I’ll be using that journal to figure out what I can and can’t be doing.
It’s that easy and it’s that hard.
The important thing is not to stop.
