What do you mean I’m not interesting?

Just because it happened to you, doesn’t mean it’s interesting.

American actor, filmmaker, photographer, and artist, Dennis Hopper, was born on this day in 1936 (died 2010).

Thanks a lot, Dennis.

Actually he’s right. And this blog sort of proves it.

I mean, sure my life is fascinating…to me at least. But my daily blogging/writing/whining about things in my life may not always be of interest to you.

For the life of me, I can’t imagine why not. But, that’s the way things are.

It’s part of the continued struggle here to write what I’m experiencing as I make the steps to become a full-time writer and yet to somehow make that interesting to you, the reader.

I’d like to be able to offer some bit of wisdom, some helpful hint, or something funny enough to relieve some stress on a daily basis.

It’s a challenge.

Of course, according to Mr. Hopper, who I’m sure never read this blog, you may not find my challenge interesting.

But here I am, three days into my new journal that’s supposed to keep me organized and, other than the regular 1,000 words, and these blog posts, I’ve not written or worked on editing my script.

I don’t think the journal is broken. But it’s a challenge as I see where the minutes and hours go that don’t involve writing.

It’s a work in progress.

See my daily goal has me reading Scripture (I’m reading through the Bible this year), going to the gym, writing my 1,000 words, and reading another 30 minutes.

That’s all outside the regular work day, the travel time, the evening appointments.

And yes, as you know, the yard work.

To help with that I’ve picked up a new app that allows me to download and listen to books for free. With my drive time to work, I’m now “reading” about an hour a day.

I’ve already finished Twelve Years a Slave, and I’m well into A.W. Tozer’s The Pursuit of God.

It’s a good thing.

More of the stuff that may not be interesting to you, but since the bout with the flu, it’s taken me a while to get the momentum back.

Let’s just say it’s back, but that I’m also thinking this pace may not be sustainable.

And yes, last night, I accepted another acting job.

Fortunately it’s an hour and a half drive to the location. So, I’ll have plenty of time to “read.”

That’s the thing about this new journal (and yes, when I’m fully convinced of its worth, I’ll endorse it), no time should be wasted.

Truth is, I’m wondering how much time I’m spending filling it in. I’ll get back to you.

So, regardless of what Dennis says, thanks for stopping by and at least pretending that you find me interesting.

It’s Wednesday. We’ve made it halfway through the week.

All I have to do is be interesting enough to hold your attention for two more days.

Just hang on until Friday night.
