What Do You Mean We’re Out of Coffee?….zzzzzz

In America today, if your sensibilities are offended by something that has happened, you get an enormous amount of credibility and are taken very seriously.

American journalist and author, Brit Hume, was born on this day in 1943

Maybe it’s just me, but summer seems to be going by too quickly…

Then again, I just discovered that we’re out of coffee, maybe it’s going to slow down real fast. (Have I mentioned that the senior offspring is a barista?)

Not only that, but last night my wife realized we were out of eggs.

Mug Shots

We couldn’t even crack, so to speak, the joke about balancing and egg on its end for summer solstice.

True story, between Food Lion and Costco we spent over $300 this week. We’re still out of coffee and eggs, and I wouldn’t bank on a full jar of peanut butter.

What will “Putin” do next?

Mess with my coffee and my inner child will come out to play.

We’re fortunate, for now, that we can run out to the store and fix these problems.

Unfortunately that requires putting on pants, and shoes.

I put on pants and shoes, as well as full casual business attire, yesterday and went to the office downtown.

As I posted on Instagram, I’m just not sure what Petula sees in it.

Still, in just a few weeks, after our forty-seven years of house arrest, I’ll be heading downtown three days a week.

I’m not dreading it. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know my office is prime real estate with a great view.

At the same time, I’m not looking forward to the gas to get there, or the dry cleaning bill that I’ve mostly avoided for a year and a half.

Still, I went to an office for forty years and I have less than forty months before I can retire (the actual date varies…just like our gas prices).

It’s just what we do. And at this point, I know that everyone is feeling the effects of the gas prices, the grocery prices, and the everything else prices.

It’s no fun for any of us and while we’re technically in the lazy days of summer, none of us can really let down our guard right now.

I have to stop there before my inner snarxist starts commenting.

And because my coffee cup is empty. I need to go back downstairs to fill it up with…decaf.

Send thoughts and prayers.

In other news, we’re coming up on reunion weekend at Asbury University where my wife and I met some…several…years ago. We’re not able to make it this year, and it’s technically not our reunion year anyway. But I spent a little time this morning thinking about my class hymn. Charles Wesley’s “And Can It Be?”

Enjoy it. Maybe with a cup of coffee.

Christian Has Devastating Crisis Of Faith After Internet Atheist Informs Him Jesus Wasn’t White
The Babylon Bee
“Why wasn’t I told this before??” Mr. Groze cried after “Truth_S33ker_12345” broke the news to him on an atheist forum. “I’ve staked my faith on firsthand experience of God’s saving power, the historical evidence for the Bible’s truth, and my unwavering faith that Jesus was a white man who looked exactly like me. How did I miss this—and how did my decades-long study of apologetics miss such a bombshell?” Read More.

BENEDICTION

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
