ABCs of Thanksgiving – U is for Understanding

“Try to understand men. If you understand each other you will be kind to each other. Knowing a man well never leads to hate and almost always leads to love.”

John Steinbeck

Life is so much better when we understand one another.

Unfortunately, that happens a lot less than it should.

Especially with social media.

For example, you can’t do subtle on Facebook. I have enough trouble doing snark.

And be cause my snark isn’t understood, I get solutions.

That’s okay. It’s a matter of communication that can be addressed fairly easily.

Our problem is, and I do mean our problem, because it’s a human trait. We make our judgment calls without listening.

Sometimes jumping to conclusions is the only exercise I get.

So, when someone understands me, when someone gets me, I appreciate that. And I’m thankful for that.

I want to be more understanding. Less judgmental.

I think we all should make that a goal.

Understand?
