Random Thursday Thoughts on April 4, 2019

I’m writing this on a Wednesday that very much tried to be a Monday.

But today is Thursday and I am seriously thinking about my need for a vacation. A week off with the flu does not count.

Sadly, there are few, if any, vacation days in the near future. So, we carry on.

Today, you get random thoughts. There’s no central theme, just things I’ve been thinking about for one reason or the other.

Take what you will from this post, then leave no trace…unless you’re leaving a trace by sharing this post elsewhere.

Speaking of leaving no trace, did you know that you’re not supposed to recycle pizza boxes? I did, but we occasionally forget and leave them in the recycle bin anyway.

Like we did yesterday.

Because yesterday wanted to be a Monday and because I was working to replace a non-functioning signal light on my truck, I had to come back to the house after leaving for work and a chiropractor appointment.

Long story short. It took longer to fix the signal light than it should have.

But that allowed me to come back to my house and see that the recycling was spilled all over the front yard.

Yes, I filed a complaint.

There’s a bit of a dispute over what happened, but there’s a history with the recycling company.

I’ll leave it at that and just say that it was something I didn’t have time to deal with yesterday.

My chiropractor appointment is rescheduled, I’ll get back to the gym.

Oh, forgot to mention that. I took the morning off from the gym because of the chiropractor appointment. I thought the extra hour of sleep would make it a better day.

Silly boy.

I’ve decided I need a soundtrack for life. Usually, I have a Pandora station playing but sometimes the choices get weird.

I have to figure it out soon because the Ukrops’ Monument Avenue 10K is coming up and I’m signed up to walk. I haven’t done so in a few years. I missed at least one year because of injury. But, I’m doing it this year. I feel a little less prepared walkage-wise. But I’m doing it.

So, I need music.

The last time I did it, I put together a Broadway playlist. That’s great, but doing the choreography slows me down on the walking.

Pretty sure I’m going with music from the 1970s because that’s when I remember that walking (and even running ) didn’t hurt.

I just need something that will help me finish and still be able to walk back to the truck to drive home.

I hesitate to say this, but please don’t send balloons to heaven to honor someone who has passed. I get the sentiment. And, I refrained from commenting on the social media post the other day. But it’s time we realized those balloons don’t get to heaven. They will pop. They will come down. They will pollute. And sometimes they will be ingested by wildlife causing health issues and even death.

It’s just not worth it.

I tried to be logical on a political post on Facebook the other day. Silly me.

Speaking of Facebook, did you know that you can mute Messenger conversations? I just found that out. I’d already been making great use of the “Unfollow” button, but this takes it step further. You won’t lose messages. But you also won’t be nagged every time that said someone responds or hits you with another question.

It’s kind of like the Interwebz version of the Southern expression, “I didn’t take you to raise.”

I made the mistake of tiptoeing into the discussion waters on Facebook the other day. I didn’t go very far, just a simple “maybe he misspoke” comment. That was far enough.

Specifics don’t matter. All that matters is that it was a reminder as to why I don’t do that anymore.

Tomorrow is Friday. My weekend is full. How about you?

Here are some things you should read with an open mind.

In the “maybe we shouldn’t worry so much about wedding cakes” category.
