Things don’t have to change the world to be important.

Sometimes instead of doing grand things, it’s enough to do things in a grand way.
Or something like that.
It’s Friday, the last Friday, and February and we may, just may, have seen the worst of winter for the year.
I’m okay with that.
Let’s get on to the weekend.
The 89th Academy Awards will air on Sunday night. Like more years than not, I haven’t seen any of the Best Picture Nominees.
In fact the only nominees I’ve seen are Zootopia, nominated for best animated film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, nominated for best costume design and production design, Star Trek Beyond, nominated for makeup and hairstyling, Rogue One, nominated for sound mixing and visual effects, The Jungle Book, nominated for visual effects.
It’s not that I don’t want to see the Best Picture nominees. I do. And I’ll eventually get around to most of them on Netflix, or HBO, or Hulu…or even at the Byrd Theatre.
I just tend to save the money until I know a film is something I really want to see.
That said, one of my bucket list items is seeing all the films that have received the Best Picture award. I’m making my way through that list…much more slowly than I’d hoped.
I won’t catch up by Sunday night, and I’m not even sure that I’ll be around to watch the ceremony.
I won’t, as many on the right have suggested, be boycotting the ceremony.
