What if they gave a Winter and nobody came?

Brace yourself. Winter isn’t coming.

We’re almost at the end of February, and here in Central Virginia, we haven’t really seen winter. We’ve had a couple of snow spats, but nothing significant.

I’ll be honest, I don’t mind. I’m not a fan of winter.

Sure, we’ve had plenty of cold mornings that required the scraping of the windshield. But I honestly couldn’t tell you if the snow shovel is in the garage or the shed.

I’m okay with that.

As I’m writing this, it feels deceptively spring-like. I say deceptively because I don’t think we’re out of cold temperatures yet. Although we’ve probably passed the threat of snow.

I’m daily looking at my yard and realizing things are going to be growing back a lot sooner than anticipated. I still have some major brush to be clearing out. I’ll get there. Just not as quickly as I’d thought.

I’m not going to speculate on why we’ve had a mild winter. We’ve had mild winters before. You can go write about the reasons on your blog.

As much as I’m always happy to see winter behind me, I can’t help but wonder if we’ve missed out on the pause, the chance to slow down that winter often forces.

I mean, who can’t make use of a good couple of snow days?

After the reorganizing of my home office, I have several boxes of files that need sorting. It’s harder to do that when the outside is calling.

They may just have to wait for next winter.
