Advent Day 15 – Bearing Fruit

Isaiah understood that Israel would be devastated. The lineage of David would be destroyed. But out of the stump of that family tree would come the One who would be the Savior of the world.

And it happened as Isaiah foretold.

As Paul wrote in Galatians:

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

Galatians 4:4-5

You’ve probably seen a tree that has been cut down where the stems and branches begin to grow back.

We see it elsewhere in nature where seeds have to die to be reborn into plants.

Some forests even benefit from fire so that they may come back to new life.

Even in mythology, the phoenix rises from the ashes.

When there seems to be no hope, hope is there.

New life begins. And new branches bear new fruit.

Our journey to Bethlehem continues.
