I’ve had to learn that lesson.
I’ve also had to learn the lesson that if I turn down a part in favor of waiting on the part I really want, I may be doing a lot of sitting in the audience. And that’s okay.
Truth is, I’m back on stage (as of last week) for the first time since March of last year.
I auditioned for several roles. I turned down three roles because of my schedule (none of which I auditioned for). I accepted the current role after auditions and the show was cast.
In the meantime I worked as an extra on two movies and shot two commercials.
Why, you ask, are the script and novel not finished?
There has to be some way that I can blame that on the day job.
And, in all honestly, I was using my “free” time to try to launch another line of products like I have in my CafePress and Zazzle stores. But this was with a new site that let’s you develop the product, then post on Amazon to sell.
It sounds great. It might be. But every time I turned around there was another fee.
I had to pay to join the Dropship program. Okay, I can do that.
I then had to pay to be a professional seller. Okay, I can do that.
Then I was told that I had to buy additional coding to be able to post the products. All of this is before I’ve sold the first thing.
Amazon was very gracious and responded to my request to close my account and issue a refund almost immediately.
I’ve yet to hear back from the other company. I’ll keep you posted.
Here’s the thing though. There really just aren’t any legitimately easy opportunities to make a passive income. If folks have figured out the system with this company, then good for them.
I just got tired of being told here was yet another fee every time I hit a snag.
It’s like the marketing and writing gurus I’ve told you about who promise hundreds if not thousands in revenue if I just buy their program.
I suppose I could launch a program to sell. But I don’t want to do that.
I want my work, whether it’s no stage or in print, to be worthwhile. I want it to be of value.
I am not interested in creating just to sell you something that you’ll end up not using, or enjoying.
That’s why I’m keeping the day job.
In the meantime, I need to get ready for my next audition.
