It’s Okay to Make Plans for Saturday Night

As much as Harold Camping might try to tell you otherwise, the world is not going to end on Saturday, May 21. Here’s your first clue:

Jesus said:

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
~ Matthew 24:35-37

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
~ Mark 13:33

Seems in all his study of dates and Scripture, Camping missed two (at least) very important ones.

Here’s a good summary of why Mr. Camping just happens to be wrong.

Why You Shouldn’t Go Camping on May 21rst
Ben Witerhington, Professor at Asbury Theological Seminary

Every such prediction since the time of Christ has had an 100% failure rate! That should have put a stop to theological weather forecasting, but alas, pious curiosity knows no bounds…

Yasser, That’s My President

Today, President Barack Obama threw Israel under the bus. There’s a lot of people under his bus. But as a colleague said, the Israelis are the only ones likely to rip out the transmission.

Here are some reactions:
From The Jerusalem Post: MKs on the Right expressed outrage on Thursday night at US President Barack Obama’s call for the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, in an exchange of territory for security.

Bearing Drift: Obama Throws Israel Under the Bus (Again) and Netanyahu Calls on Obama to Retract Statement, Honor U.S. Commitments

Israel Nation News: Israel Expects Obama to Take Back ‘1967 Lines’ DemandPrime Minister Netanyahu: “Equally, the Palestinians, and not just the United States, must recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, and any peace agreement with them must end all claims against Israel.”

Commentary Magazine: Obama’s Radical Shift in U.S. Policy
Although no American government has ever formally recognized Israel’s right to hold onto territory won in June 1967, Obama’s embrace of the ’67 lines (like the his previous condemnation of Jewish building in Jerusalem as illegal) is unprecedented. It tilts the diplomatic playing field even further in the direction of the Palestinians. Though he, and his supporters, insist that his speech will help Israel and ensure its future, he has done nothing of the kind.

Voice of America: Israel Objects to Obama Remarks on Borders

The Daily Caller: Krauthammer: Obama speech shows he ‘has sympathies everywhere except Israel’
“Obama makes the biggest concession of the entire Arab-Israeli negotiations in 50 years.”

Personally, my money is on Israel.

As are my sentiments.
