Knowing what to write

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.

As a writer, part of life is not always knowing what you’re going to write next.

Perhaps I should have taken the course on writer’s block that was offered to me this week.

Truth is, I generally knock out my five weekday posts by the weekend. But, as you may or may not recall, I was on the road most of this past weekend.

Then, yesterday, I stepped in to the public policy arena…just a touch…and I could go there again, but I don’t want to.

The truth is, if you’re a political pundit, this week has been like Christmas. There’s no shortage of things to be hysterical about.

No, I’m not being callous. But let’s all admit that much of the hysteria, and anger, and outrage, and whatever you want to call it, is manufactured.

But like Gilda said, not all stories have a clear beginning, middle, and end. And the stories we’re seeing in the “news” aren’t the whole story.

Just remember that.

That’s about all I have for you today.

You’re welcome.
