The Bright Side

An optimist is someone who gets treed by a lion but enjoys the scenery.

American journalist and radio host, Walter Winchell, was born on this day in 1897 (died 1972).

I’ve faced a few dead lions, but I’ve never been treed by a lion. I’m still somewhat of an optimist.

I mean, even on the darkest days, I’m dreaming about how things can be better.

True, some days I’m dreaming that things can be better by winning Publisher’s Clearinghouse or the Powerball.

Unfortunately, my odds of that are about as good as those of being treed by a lion.

Just looking for the silver lining here.

Or silver coins in the couch. It’s all good.

It’s the lesson we’ve been learning, isn’t it?

And sorry if you think we’ve studied it over and over, we’ll have to keep reviewing it until we get there.

But, it’s the weekend. So let’s not work too hard.

Just remember, always look on the bright side of life.

And remember to return to The Write Side of My Brain on Monday.
