But already the media is lining up to tear him apart. Consider:
Huffington Post: Rick Perry’s College Transcript: A Lot Of Cs and Ds
Sayeth the brainiacs: The future politician did not distinguish himself much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so.
To which we respond, “So the F(ailing grade) what?”
Back in 2000 we were subjected to story after story about how George W. Bush was a poor student. And, truth be told, he wasn’t an honor students. But the story we didn’t hear was how the academic records of Al Gore in 2000 (and John Kerry in 2004) weren’t exactly stellar.
And while Bush went on to earn his Harvard MBA, Gore dropped out of both divinity school and law school.
In 2008 we heard repeated stories about how Sarah Palin went to several schools before graduating. But while we heard that Barack Obama went to Occidental College and later Harvard, we have yet to see his transcripts or his SAT and LSAT scores.
Where’s the media interest in that?
Back to Perry, in more than a bit of religious hypocrisy: Religious leaders protest Perry’s Houston prayer gathering. Houston News-Journal.
On Tuesday, more than 50 Houston-area religious and community leaders disseminated a signed statement drafted by the Anti-Defamation League expressing “deep concern” about a prayer rally “not open to all faiths,” while the Houston GLBT Political Caucus and related organizations announced a Friday rally at Tranquility Park to protest the event. The groups that represent gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people accused the American Family Association and other sponsors of the prayer event of hatred toward the GLBT communinuty.
Oh, the absolute horror of Governor Perry coming together to pray with those who share his faith.
The event is not being paid for with public funds. It is being sponsored by the American Family Association.
While there are multiple candidates already in the race for the GOP nomination, none of them are really exciting. Many are hoping that Perry jumps into the race soon. That will change the dynamics of the race.
And, as we’re already seeing, it will scare the left.
