“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!”
Ebeneezer Scrooge as spoken in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I’ve seen two decidedly different versions of A Christmas Carol on stage recently, Scrooge in Rouge at Richmond Triangle Players, and a one man version at Gayton Kirk.
Both were great tellings of this classic story, although as I told the friend who also saw the production at Gayton Kirk, my favorite version probably is still Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol.
It’s been several years since I’ve seen that version.
Christmas will be here in about a week and a half. No, we’re not ready. No, everything isn’t done.
We’ll get it done. Or, I should say, we’ll get enough done.
I’m personally hoping that I’m not visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve.
However, by my count, I have about five more days of the chains I forged in life.
I’m looking forward to the time off, to the time with family and friends, to some time to sit by the tree.
And to egg nog, perhaps with extra nog.
By the way, if my invitation to your holiday affair got lost in the mail, feel free to hit me up on Facebook or by email.
Just trying to help you be a blessing.
I’m working, in my spare time, on finishing up my script and on mapping out the writing plan for 2017.
Speaking of 2017, I think we all should band together and agree that we will not allow 2017 to be a repeat of 2016.
Of course that’s a little silly. We can’t control the events, good or bad, that will happen in 2017. But we can plan how we react.
Let’s try to keep each other in mind as we do that.
God bless us, every one.
