“Humanity is a parade of fools, and I am at the front of it, twirling a baton.”
Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas
American author and screenwriter, Dean Koontz, was born on this day in 1945.
Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors. I’ve been through the entire Odd Thomas series as well as the Jane Hawk series and various other works.
I’ve never been disappointed. Koontz just has a way with words and incredible gift for writing phrases that make me think “Ooo, I wish I’d written that.”
I’m trying to read more. You know, in my free time.
All the best authors will tell you, if you don’t have time to read, you don’t have time to write.
I’ve always been a reader. Way back to the time where I got the local library summer award for “Best Boy Reader” I think somewhere around the 5th grade.
Sometimes it’s hard to find, or make, the time to read. These days, if I sit down in the comfy chair with a book, my eyes are likely tired from a day of staring at a screen.
If I’m not careful, I’ll find myself waking up from one of those “where am I and what day is it” naps.
Still, thanks to Audible, I’m four books ahead on my Goodreads challenge for the year.
And yes, there’s some consideration that, post retirement I’ll be reading a lot more.
Even if those naps sound awfully inviting.
