Today is Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day. It commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865 Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas. Ironically, this only applied to the former Confederate states. There were enslaved people in states who did not withdraw from the Union until the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution on December 6, 1865. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021.
I’ve told y’all it would be good to learn some history.
But I’m not writing a history lesson today.
One, because I’m not a history teacher, and two, because Juneteenth is not my story to tell.
I have plenty of my own stories to tell, and I’m working on them.
No, seriously.
We’re more than halfway through June and I’m here counting down the days until retirement from the day job.
That also means that I’m in this transitioning phase to figure out what I’ll be doing after retirement. I plan to keep working. But so far, this blog isn’t paying the bills.
So I jumped on a webinar yesterday. Much the same story. I did take notes and there was some good information. But the best information, of course, including the “freebie” she teased about at the beginning, would cost me $177 for the next three months.
I’ve ranted about this before. I understand that people have to make a living. But so do I.
I’m sure that some will invest in this program and be successful. I wish them well.

I may not always give you quality content, or brilliant writing. But I won’t make you wait for it.
In this process of transitioning, I’m reexamining this blog and the reasons I write here.
I can’t tell you exactly what that means yet. Mainly because I don’t know.
But rest assured, when I do, I’ll tell you about it.
