“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and
I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
Bilbo Baggins as written by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
Thanks to a favorite high school English teacher, I “discovered” Tolkien a couple of years later. I’ve been a fan ever since.
You can’t be a regular reader of this blog (okay, when there are regular posts) and not know that.
Late in 2023, I took the challenge of finally reading The Silmarillion. I’m a little more than halfway through. And it’s going to take a second reading, or three, to fully comprehend this masterful work.
I don’t know Tolkien half as well as I should like, but I’m a fan of the books, and THE MOVIES.
Well, let’s say I’m a fan of The Lord of the Rings movies. The Hobbit films..,well…too much of a good thing.
I’m also watching The Rings of Power, but the series does not hold the same magic as the original LOTR.
I’ve written before about my unique group of online friends who met online during a time of national turmoil, who loved the movies, and who forged friendships that continue today.
Thanks Professor Tolkien.
