FIVE FOR FRIDAY 11/18/2022 – Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Birthday, Mickey!

The animated short Steamboat Willie, was released on this day in 1928. This was the first fully synchronized sound cartoon, directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It featured the third appearances of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Disney corporation considers this to be Mickey’s birthday.

Also born on this day.

American lyricist, songwriter, and singer, and co-founder of Capitol Records, Johnny Mercer, was born on this day in 1909 (died 1976). Mercer wrote the lyrics to more than 1,500 songs, including Moon River, featured in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

 

Winterfest is coming.
