For the Beauty of the Earth

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Genesis 1:1-2

I spent a lot of time last week staring at the ocean. Because of our location this time, I could do that practically all day from sunrise to sunset, all without leaving the house, which was good because we didn’t have the warmest weather.

From the windows of the house we could see the oceans. We saw birds, and dolphins, and on the final day a perfect rainbow, a reminder of God’s promise from Genesis 9:13.

As I watched it all I thought, as I often have in the past, that none of this poofed into existence. None of it happened by accident.

In other words, it’s laughable to think that nothing banged into nothing and poof dinosaurs.

I do not understand the “science” that looks at the intracies of creation and think that it just evolved.

Instead, in all of creation, I see the hand of the creator.

Isaac Newton said:

This most beautiful system of the sun, planets and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being…This Being governs all things, not as the soul of the world, but as Lord over all.

snow and shared much the same sentiment.

This didn’t just happen. It’s by design.

There are Biblial scholars who can expound on this much better than I.

But I know what I believe. I know what I see.

And when I look at creation, I see the hand of the creator.
