It is Day 8 of our Advent series and we focus on God’s gift to the World. In this time we call a season of giving we are reminded that the reason we give is because of God’s incredible gift to us.
Sure, we give gifts because we love someone.
That’s exactly the point.
God gave us his only Son so that we might all be saved.
It is at the same time simple and wonderful and mind-boggling.
Us. He loved us.
He loves us.
We sometimes lose site of that in all of the trappings of the season. The shopping. The decorations. The stress and money worries. All of that.
But whether we recognize it or not, we give because He first gave to us.
I put on the red suit as a matter of giving. Sure it’s performance. Sure it’s acting.
It is also a calling to give. To love. To share the story.
You don’t have to wait until Christmas morning to open God’s incredible gift. It’s right here for you now. All you have to do is receive.
