Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth’ the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
Psalm 95:1-5
But, I’m still thankful.
Thank you to those who have followed me on the journey this month. Thanks for those who continue to read here…even when I’m just babbling.
We had a fine Thanksgiving Day. Always more work than we planned. Always more food leftover than we know what to do with.
Well, except for the fact that I’m pretty sure no one in this household is cooking for the next few days. At least not until we tire of turkey.
NARRATOR: He never tires of turkey.
So, while I normally wouldn’t be posting on a Saturday, I picked it up with the ABCs and I may just keep showing up here on weekends.
I’ll definitely be here weekends through Advent and the remainder of the Christmas season.
So, I’m thankful.
My next few weeks will be full of wearing the red suit at Winterfest, some photo opportunities, a few other scattered events, and shopping.
And, of course, the day job. But I am getting a couple of weeks off from that later in December.
In full disclosure I am finding that I am not as “back” as I had hoped from the Summer’s Unpleasantness (TM). And in that lesson, I am learning that I have to pace myself as I return to activities. Making the decision to turn down some theatrical opportunities turns out to have been very wise.
It will get better. I already am better than I was a few months ago, and I’m thankful for that.
I’m also thankful for the lesson that I need to take things slowly.
I want to savor every moment of the Christmas season.
I want a deeper understanding and appreciation of what the season is all about.
Soon we’ll start our Advent series as we journey to the manger.
It really is the reason for the season. It really is why I wear the red suit.
I’m thankful for Saturdays like today to ponder those things.
And, thank you for being here.
