RECAFFEINATED MONDAYS: There’s Got to Be a Morning After

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20

Other than that Ms. Magdalene…how was your weekend?

It’s Easter Monday, and what a weekend we’ve had. Last week all of the events we didn’t understand at the time led up to the awful events of Friday and the darkness of the weekend.

Then Sunday came and the tomb was empty. It still is. Easter never ends.

Across the country many churches were able to return to in-person worship. Finally. Some were outside. Some included masks.

But to once again note that perhaps this has just gotten a little out of control, in London police told a Catholic parish that their mass was an unlawful assembly.

Are you now or have you ever been a follower of Jesus of Nazareth?

In Canada, a brave pastor drove out the police, much like a certain teacher cleared the temple. It was a beautiful thing.

Links to both stories are below.

For the rest of the weekend, I did some traditional watching. We watched the 2011 version of The Master’s Plan at West End Assembly of God. You can still watch on YouTube.

Saturday night, ABC showed The Ten Commandments. An epic film, and epic story. But the acting and the melodrama…well…let’s just say I’m still getting over Moses being married to Lily Munster.

Last night I watched the Jesus Christ Superstar Live Arena Tour. It’s an incredible production. Available on Amazon Prime.

Since we’re still at the first of the month, I also spent some time with my three words:

Ponder…Learn…Believe…

No real earth shattering revelations, but I did a good bit of reorganizing. I still have much to do.

The morning after the resurrection, the followers of Jesus were probably still a little bit stunned. Did they really see him yesterday? Was the tomb really empty?

Their lives, and the stories they told, tell us yes. And they changed the world.

I’m not sure I’ll change the world. Although heaven knows it could use a big change.

But hopefully, I can make things a little better somewhere.

BENEDICTION

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
