We are on day 287 of 15 days to slow the spread.
Today is Epiphany, or Three Kings Day, or in some places Little Christmas.
Or, if you took your decorations down on December 26, it’s Wednesday.
Don’t worry, if you packed everything away on the actual Second Day of Christmas, you can still get to Heaven. You’ll just have to eat at the kid’s table.
I have never understood not wanting to allow the season to linger.

Epiphany celebrates the arrival of the Magi, the Three Kings as they came to worship, and acknowledge the Christ child.. If we’re actually being a stickler for Biblical accuracy, the kings would have arrived about two years later, not twelve days.
But that would wreak havoc on the after Christmas sales.
We’ll be taking down our Christmas decorations this weekend. I may actually start slowly tomorrow evening. Truth is, we knew we wouldn’t be having holiday company, so we minimized our display anyway.
I usually wait until the following weekend when I used to have a four-day break because of Lee-Jackson Day on Friday and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday.
If you think that’s weird, you should have been around when it was Lee-Jackson-King Day.
But the Virginia General Assembly finally defeated the Confederacy and I lost my four-day weekend. I still get an extra day off. It’s just that now it’s for Election Day in November.
A day when I can exercise my right to vote, perhaps for people who would not take away my four-day weekend.
I digress.
I hear there’s big stuff happening in Washington today. Use your own definition for “stuff.”
It’s not going to change anything, and I’m not going to watch the shenanigans. I will just say that if you don’t think there are shenanigans on both sides of the isle, you’re either not paying attention or you’re not being honest.
We are governed by buffoons.

We’re now attending, well, by Sunday morning TV, a church that follows more of a traditional calendar. So, Epiphany is significant. I like the traditions. I like things that are constant.
Our understanding of the Wise Men is more traditional and sentimental than it is accurate. Don’t get me wrong, they followed the star and found Him.
The also went home by a different way after being subpoenaed by a House Judiciary Commitee threatening to overturn the manger.
