My Fifteen Minutes of Fame?

We are on day 202 of 15 days to slow the spread.

I made the newspaper this weekend. No seriously, not in the court records or the obituaries. I was interviewed about the moving of the theater. All things being considered, I didn’t make a fool of myself.

That’s my general goal whether it’s talking to the media, going to an audition, or really, just about anything.

Don’t embarrass yourself.

I also made our Alumni Magazine with a quote about our virtual class reunions this past June.

It’s been a big media week for me.

You know what they say, whoever they are, there’s no bad publicity as long as they spell your name correctly.

I’m not so sure I believe that.

It’s not like I haven’t had my name in the news before, I have. For things like show reviews and maybe in our local hometown newspaper when I graduated from college.

Of course, there was that time at college when the news wasn’t so great. Our small school didn’t have classes

on Wednesday afternoons so a few of us sat in the cafeteria for a while and cooked up a goofball scheme to oppose the renaming of the campus snack shop.

It was not a well thought out plan, and by the next week I found myself writing an opinion piece in the school newspaper that explained that things just spiraled out of control far too quickly.

You’ve seen those memes about that time you’re almost asleep and your brain decides to remind you of every stupid thing you’ve ever done or said?

Yeah, it was one of those.

I can only hope that one day the news will be my best seller, or my Emmy winning script.

I’m still working on those.

Well, I’m not currently working on those.

I’m sort of in that change of seasons season, if you will.

I’m starting a Halloween related job this week, but I’m also gearing up for the Christmas season and the donning of the red suit.

Neither job is likely to get me in the newspaper. In the grand scheme of things, that’s probably a good thing.

In the animated Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph and Hermey meet and sing about seeking “Fame and Fortune.” The fact that the song doesn’t really fit the plot isn’t important.

I’m not looking for fame, but I wouldn’t snark at a little fortune.

I got the email from Publisher’s Clearing House this morning that said that they are “en route.”

If I really thought they’d be pulling up in front of my house, I’d put on real pants.

Then again, if they show and I’m not wearing pants, I’d probably make the newspaper again.
