It’s the first Monday of recovery after springing forward for Daylight Saving Time.
Everyone is talking about the Coronavirus. We don’t quite know yet if we’re taking enough precautions or if we’re overreacting.
But never fear, there are certainly enough people out there who will attempt to use this for financial or political gain.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
I don’t know how severe this really is. Chances are, if you’re part of my regular reading audience, you don’t either.
I work in government (and attend too many meetings), theater, and at an amusement park. All prime places for spreading all kinds of stuff.
Editorial comments redacted.
I can’t fix it. I can’t stop it.
I can, however, take necessary precautions like washing my hands and perhaps shaking a few less.
I did see Stephen King Tweet “This is not The Stand, don’t overreact.” That’s a paraphrase, but his point was well taken.
Don’t panic.
Wash your hands.
Don’t forget your towel.
Please don’t tell me that I have to explain the reference.
Here’s why I’m writing this. Social media, as well as mainstream media, is all set up to get us all worked up about a crisis.
It’s happened too many times to count.
And, frankly, I’m more than a little tired of pointing it out every time you share a bogus post.
All I’m saying is think before you post. It won’t take long.
Maybe as long as it takes to wash your hands.
