About that Theme

A couple of weeks ago, I told you that my theme for 2018 is “Get Things Done.”

I’m working on it. Some of the things on my to do list have been accomplished, and it’s only the 22nd day of the month.

At the same time, some things are still on the list. Sure, weather delayed a good bit of the yard and garage cleanage.

But, I’m not giving up. I’m still moving forward.

Without too much in terms of details, I’ve rebooted the fitness routine. Suffice it to say that I’m also moving forward in that regard.

I’ve also made some adjustments with the writing plan.

It happens.

Rather that spend time developing an email newsletter, I’ve added an option, at the top of the sidebar to your right, to get notified by email when there’s a new post. You’ll get an email and a link the the post. Generally that’s Monday through Friday.

A day may come when I figure out the program to get the actual post into your email, but it is not this day.

In addition, whether I’ve talked about it or not, I had been working on the concept of a Monday morning video chat. Something like Morning Cups with Mike, or something of that nature.

But this week, I read that YouTube has changed their system for paying for videos. I’m not sure how long it will take to meet the threshold. I’ve seen several of the more popular blogs and social media experts decide to let it go because they aren’t there. So, for now anyway, I’m not spending time there.

Part of getting things done is deciding what is really important.

In the grand scheme of things, I don’t need a YouTube following.

Yet.

Speaking of things that really are important…As of this writing, the federal government is shutdown because of of incompetent leadership, or lack thereof, in Washington, DC. The Republicans blame the Democrats. The Democrats blame the Republicans. I blame all of them.

In the crudest of terms this is nothing more than a middle school squabble over the size of the members’ members, and neither side is measuring up.

The only way to fix this folks is to throw them all out.

All. Of. Them.

But heaven forbid we hold our leaders accountable because we’re a nation obsessed with kids swallowing detergent and the President’s weight.

Speaking of which, as a friend asked on social media the other day, is body shaming only taboo unless you’re talking about the President?

Physician, purge thyself.

Speaking of genitalia (and you can bet I’ve never used that word on this blog before), I get what you’re trying to say, but if you wear it on your head, I’m gonna have a hard time taking you seriously.

Some days, keeping my “I’m not going to blog about politics” promise is a challenge.

I will note that the women’s marches across the nation were widely covered in the media over the weekend, but there was little to no mention of some 400,000 people attending the March for Life in DC on Friday.

I don’t play the #fakenews game, but don’t pretend there’s not media bias.

Okay, that’s out of my system, I’m done.

For now.

Besides I have things to do, places to go, people to see.

I need to get things done.
