Old folks have dreams and ambitions too, like everybody else. Don’t sit on a couch someplace.
American colonel, astronaut, and politician, John Glenn, was born on this day in 1921 (died 2016).
Hey you kids! Get off muh couch.
Or, in this house, it’s “Hey you dogs, get off my couch.”
Nice try.
I’m not quite yet willing to count myself amongst the old folks. Not yet. I’m certainly getting there, and I’m certainly feeling it.
And you can be darn sure I’ll take that senior discount when offered.
But I’m not yet amongst that older set.
I do, however, have the white belt and shoes on standby.
I could use another cardigan.
I digress.
You can’t be long-term, or even a short-term reader here and think that there’s much couch sitting going on. We’re always doing something, or going somewhere.
Sure when I step on the scales it may not quite say it…yet. But we’re always up to something.
And, that’s okay.
Sometimes we’re up to too much and we need times to slow down and think things over before they gear up again.
Or we need to just make choices and decide we’re just not going to do something.
We’ve had this little chat before. It seems like we’re all too busy.
There’s a balance between staying active and letting things get out of control.
How that balances out is different for each of us.
What’s important is that we keep moving. Those of us who are plagued with joint and arthritis issues know that we have to keep moving or we soon won’t be able to.
That sounds like an old person talking.
But I’m not telling you that from the couch whilst watching Game of Thrones or the announcement of the new Doctor. Don’t get me wrong, I watched those.
On a side note, go ahead and feel better by saying on Facebook that you watch neither Game of Thrones or Dr.
I’m challenging myself daily in my Self Journal (and yes, that’s an affiliate link), and trying to balance out what I need to be working on vs. what really doesn’t matter.
Don’t get me wrong, down time is factored in there as well.
John Glenn first went into space in 1962, he was just over forty years old. In 1998 he returned to space as part of the Space Shuttle Discovery crew. He was 77 years old.
I’m pretty sure that Discovery wasn’t carrying a couch.
