A very good place to start

There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

– Louis L’Amour

I don’t know about you, but I never get to the end of my “to do” list.

I’m writing this on Saturday morning. Don’t worry, it will still be relevant on Tuesday when you read it.

I’ve gone over my list for the day. There are not enough hours.

At this point I have exactly one hour and four minutes before my self-imposed deadline to go out and mow the yard.

In the meantime, I’ve been struggling to get a couple of sites to cooperate to be able to launch a new line of products that will make me an overnight bazillionaire.

See my struggle? If I could get those to work, I could pay someone to mow for me next week.

Or move to a maintenance free home.

I have a dream.

Until then, I have things to do. We all do.

Truth is, we’ll never get to the end of our lists. That’s how we know we’re still alive.

I mean, sure, I dream of retiring from the day job…perhaps this week more than any other in a long time.

That’s another story, which may or may not be in the book.

I’ve love to check out of that job and spend my time writing, acting, and painting…canvas, not the house.

That would be a new beginning for me.

But, I’m not there yet.

The thing is, I don’t want to get to the end of my list and just wait for the final curtain.

As long as I can move, as long as I’m breathing, I’ll be working on something.

It may be the next great American novel, or Tony winning play or performance.

Or maybe one day, I’ll finally get to have that art show.

Or it may be that I just finally get all of those daylilies transplanted.

I’m not ready to talk about the end of my life, I’m hoping I’ve got another good 20-30 years, at least. But, I’m also hoping that the end won’t come with my being in a facility wheeled out in my chair every day to sit by the nurse’s station.

I have a deal with my older son to make sure that doesn’t happen. I won’t share the details here in case this blog is admissible in court.

But enough about that. I have a list of things to do.

A never-ending list.

Let’s get started.

Again.

And again.

Make the most of your Tuesday. It’s okay if you don’t finish your list.

American singer, Rosemary Clooney, was born on this day in 1928 (died 2002).
