Don’t give up

A lot of people give up just before they’re about to make it. You know you never know when that next obstacle is going to be the last one.

American actor, producer, and martial artist, Chuck Norris, was born on this day in 1940.

True story: I almost gave up on this week until I made it to Friday.

Well, not really. But I sure could have used a nap.

Still, I’m not quite sure I’m ready to follow Chuck’s lead. Life is always about obstacles. I mean, if there are no obstacles isn’t life pretty much over?

It’s the big one, Elizabeth.

I spent years telling myself that “if I could just get through this, I’ll be okay.” or “if I could just get through that, I’ll be okay” before I finally came to the realization that it’s not supposed to be easy.

Or okay.

I’ve said this before. I think I even said it earlier this week. We all have struggles. We all have things we’re dealing with.

That person you see that looks like they’ve got it all together may be playing a good game.

But I can guarantee you that, while they may present that image, on the inside there are challenges, there are struggles.

That’s what life is all about.

Don’t get me wrong. Life is great. Most of the time.

It just ain’t easy.

And we’re fooling ourselves if we think it’s easy for anyone.

But Chuck is right, if I may call you Chuck, Mr. Norris.

We never know when we’re going to make that breakthrough. We never know when we’re going to solve a particular problem or a problem is just going to go away because we refused to give up.

True, we could be careening around the corner with the bridge out ahead.

But, think of the stories they’ll tell.
