You must do the things you think you cannot do.
American humanitarian, politician, and 39th First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt, was born on this day in 1884 (died 1962).
I absolutely refuse to use the phrase “yes we can.”
But more often than not in life the impossible has happened because someone simply refused to accept the “fact” that it couldn’t be done.
In between telling kids that “you can’t do that” and “you can do anything you want” there’s a good bit of truth.
The reality is you never know until you try.
But if you tell yourself you can’t learn a second language, you never will.
If you tell yourself you can’t learn to play an instrument, you never will.
If you tell yourself you can’t lose that weight…well.
It’s about having faith in what you want to accomplish. Even when you think you can’t.
Even more so when others thing you can’t.
Frustrating, isn’t it?
Whatever your hopes, whatever your goals, whatever your dream, don’t give up.
Don’t let the naysayers tell you that you can’t do it.
Even if you fail, and I suspect if it’s something you (and I) really want then there won’t be failure…but if there is we’ll still be better off for having tried.
Sometimes opportunity comes along and it looks like work.
Not to say too much here, but as I’m writing this I turned down a very, and I do mean very, lucrative writing job offer, but I just couldn’t support the cause. And no, it would be less ethical to tell you from whence the offer came.
You can do the work even when you think you can’t.
Well, most of the time anyway.
