There’s a lot of truth in that.
No, this is not a theology post.
But there’s a lot to be said about the fact that the best people to carry a message aren’t always the most educated.
Look no further than the number of graduate degrees in Congress.
I digress.
Jeff Foxworthy’s main claim to fame is “you might be a redneck if…”
His southern style humor rings true because, well…it rings true. The first time we heard his routine my wife and I realized “we know those people.” In fact, we’re related to some of them.
True comedy is funny because it has an element of truth.
That’s why most of this election cycle really isn’t funny.
Sorry, I went there, didn’t I?
But, brace yourself. The next four months will be a marathon.
We’re full into the election season. Leaves are thinking about falling. Halloween stuff is already on the shelves. We’ll be arguing about Black Friday and what stores are open on Thanksgiving before you know it. Then Christmas is here.
It’s all coming.
I haven’t even mentioned theatre projects, or football season, or for parents all the school events (and the fundraisers are coming home soon).
As for me, I took yesterday to reorganize my home office. It still needs a good, deep cleaning. But the floor is clear, some things are moved around and I’ve now got a comfy chair for reading. It’s progress.
