“The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more.”
Medical researcher and developer of the polio vaccine, Jonas Salk, was born on this day in 1914. (died 1955)
Today is Wednesday. Hump Day.
Leave the poor camel alone.
Few, if any of us, feel like we need more to do.
However, business is business. Whether it’s real estate, or financial services, or like in my case, writing and performing arts.
More is better.
Within reason. I’ve been in rehearsals or production for some show since before New Year’s Day, and I’ll likely finish the year in much the same way.
I’ll just leave that there other than to say that I’ll be looking at things a good bit differently in 2016.
Pace. Yourself.
Don’t get me wrong. I have loved, and continue to love the performing, producing, and directing opportunities.
And, even as I write this, my freelance writing opportunities are expanding.
This is all good stuff.
The caution is to remember that I can’t say yes to everything that comes my way.
In part that’s why I’m writing this late Tuesday night after seeing a show. The weekend was too full to finish my customary five posts.
I know the secret is out. I don’t offer you spontaneous brilliance every morning.
I can’t do everything.
Darn it.
I’m not Superman.
Which is a good thing because I don’t look good in tights and I’m scared of heights.
The bottom line is that it’s okay to say no.
Even if it’s something you want to do.
Even moreso if it’s something that people want or expect you to do because it fits their agenda.
So, pardon the randomness. I’m also fighting off a cold as I write this. After last year’s unpleasantness, I’ve all but given up on pharmaceuticals and am taking a more homeopathic approach, including getting more fluids and rest.
Which is why I’m ending this post here for now.
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll try to make more sense tomorrow.
