Gospel music legend Andrae Crouch passed away Thursday at the age of 72. As my wife said on Facebook, it’s hard to explain to the younger generation just exactly what his music meant to us in early days of Contemporary Christian music.
As the news broke on Facebook friends, mostly from my college days, began to share stories of how they had heard him in concert at Ichthus, or how he had performed on our college campus, and from a friend who knew Crouch personally as a friend and pastor, how he was missing him.
I spent Thursday night and a good part of Friday listening to Andrae’s music. I’m sure I’ll listen some more.
Here is one of my favorites.
