Honestly, I’m not sure what I was thinking when I agreed to be in two shows this fall, knowing that Glorious Christmas Nights is just around the corner. I’m sure at some point I thought “this’ll be great!”
And, don’t get me wrong. It is. It’s just also very busy. As I write this it’s Sunday afternoon. My day thus far:
Church (early for choir practice), Lunch, Home to pack breakfast and lunch for the week, and do laundry. A funeral. Home again to mow. More laundry. And now I’m sitting down to write this while I cool off and get ready to go to rehearsal.
We had a full weekend. I was able to go down to The Playhouse at Ft. Lee to see Little Women on Friday night. I love the theater there and hope to get to work there again. My wife stayed home to get over a cold. They have one more weekend. See it if you can.
While I was sitting there waiting for the show to begin, I just had this sense of how much I really do love live theater. Which I suppose is a good thing since I seem to be doing it all the time.
Still, it can be a difficult thing because being in rehearsal or performance so much means I don’t get out to see all the other shows I want to see. Not being in a show over the summer, I got to see a lot of other performances. Now, it’s a matter of choosing the only free night and making the selection between multiple shows.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really whining. The fact that there’s so darn much good theater to see in Richmond is a great thing. You should be seeing more.
Start with my shows.
No. Seriously.
