John Calvin was predestined to be born on this day in 1509



John Calvin (French: Jean Calvin) was born on this day in 1509. He died on May 27, 1564. He was instrumental in the development of a system of Christian theology which later bore his name as “Calvinism.”

Calvin was trained as a lawyer. He left the Catholic Church sometime around 1530 and later fled to Switzerland where he published the first edition of “The Institutes of the Christian Religion.”
