Dear Jeb Bush: Let us rule out a 2016 run for you

I already made my opinion known on this over a year ago when we were talking about 2012: Bush 2012? In a word NO!

Let me repeat that word today.

This morning on the NBC Today show, Jeb Bush said that while he would not rule out a run in 2016… “I won’t declare today either.”

In case I haven’t made myself clear, let me declare for you “No!”

Look, I have a lot of respect for Governor Bush and for what he did while he was governor of Florida. In a lot of ways, he’s probably the Bush that should have been in the White House.

But no. No one else from this family. Not now. Maybe in a generation.

Look, I even understand that the GOP hasn’t won a Presidential election without a Bush on the ticket since 1972.

I’m willing to take that risk.

A Jeb Bush candidacy would be four years of the media and the left (I know small, if any, distinction) reminding us that Papa Bush broke his “Read My Lips” pledge and that George W. Bush “lied” about weapons of mass destruction. That, of course, isn’t true but it’s the “accepted” narrative. As a conservative, I have problems with a whole lot more than the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Love him or hate him, George W. Bush kept us safe.

Still, it’s time for Republicans to accept the fact that Ronald Reagan can’t be cloned and a Bush will never govern as a conservative.

We need a new face. We need a new name.

Whether that’s Rand Paul or Marco Rubio or Bobby Jindal or someone else, I just don’t know.

I just know it’s not Jeb Bush.
