Hunky Asteroid Seeks Relationship with Hot Planet

Space was in the news this week. First with the meteor that exploded over Russia injuring some 1,200 people. According to The Telegraph the Russian meteor hit with (the) force of 30 Hiroshima bombs.

The video footage is pretty amazing.

Meanwhile, NASA was tracking an asteroid that came within 17,000 miles of the Earth. NASA has said the two are not related.

Nevertheless, bring on the hysteria.

CNN’s Deborah Feyerick recently asked Bill “The Science Guy” Nye if these events were being caused by global warming. No really, we’re not making this up:

“Talk about something else that’s falling from the sky and that is an asteroid. What’s coming our way? Is this an effect of, perhaps, of global warming, or is this just some meteoric occasion?”

I’ll pause whilst you shake your head.

Writing in TownHall.com, John Ransom says, The sad part is that it’s not just ditzy news anchors who propagate bad science, it’s bad scientists who propagate ditzy news.

Ransom is right. Bad science. Bad “news.”

This while Forbes is reporting that Only 36 percent of geoscientists and engineers believe that humans are creating a global warming crisis, according to a survey reported in the peer-reviewed Organization Studies. By contrast, a strong majority of the 1,077 respondents believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.

Proving once again that the science involving “Global Warming” or “Climate Change” or whatever it is currently politically correct to call it is anything but “settled.”
