I did a pretty good job with my 2012 list. The goal again this year is to read, at least, 25 books. As I noted the other day, I’m taking a different approach to Bible study for the year, but those three books won’t count in the 25.
Let’s start with what I didn’t get to in 2012:
The Years of Lyndon Johnson, Vol. 3: Master Of The Senate
and The Passage of Power: The Years of Lyndon Johnson
Robert A. Caro
I read the first two books in Caro’s series on Lyndon Johnson several years ago and I got Master of the Senate last year for Christmas. I’m about half way through. I got The Passage of Power this year for Christmas, so I plan to finish both.
In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir
Richard B. Cheney
I still want to hear things from Dick Cheney’s perspective. Love him or hate him (and I love him) he’s a fascinating individual.
The Dynamic Dominion: Realignment and the Rise of Two-Party Competition in Virginia, 1945-1980
Frank B. Atkinson
I’ve been meaning to read Frank’s book on Virginia politics for some time now. This year, I’ll really will get to it.
What I’m adding this year:
The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People
In addition to reading studying the three books, I plan to read at least once The Story which is a telling of the major stories of the Bible in chronological order.
The Casual Vacancy
I want to see how she does writing for adults, not children.
The Last Dark: The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson
This is the (thankfully) fourth book in the (hopefully) final series by Donaldson. This really is more of something I want to check of the “to do” list than it is a desire to read the book. But I want to finish the series. Due out in 2013.
The Complete C.S. Lewis Signature Classics
Because everybody needs to read a little bit of Lewis every year.
From my Amazon wish list:
Letters From Father Christmas
by J. R. R. Tolkien
Seven Men: And the Secret of Their Greatness
by Eric Metaxas
Due out in 2013.
That’s not even close to 25. What should I add?
