Television and radio personality Art Linkletter was born on July 17, 1912. He was the host of House Party on CBS radio and television for 25 years and People Are Funny on NBC radio and TV for 19 years. He was well known for interviewing children on House Party and Kids Say the Darndest Things.
He married Lois Foerster at Grace Lutheran Church in San Diego on November 28, 1935. They were still married 74 1/2 years later at the time of Linkletter’s death. They had five children.
In 2005, at the age of 93, he opened the Happiest Homecoming on Earth celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. Half a century earlier, he was the commentator on the opening day celebrations in 1955. For this, he was named a Disney Legend.
Art Linkletter died at his Bel Air, Los Angeles home on May 26, 2010, two months shy of his 98th birthday.
