Actor, producer, writer and director is know for his back to back Academy Awards for Best Actor in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. He was also nominated for Oscars in Big, Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away. Children, and adults who wish they were children, will recognize his voice as the voice of Woody in Disney Pixar’s Toy Story.
His acting career began in New York City where he appeared in He Knows You’re Alone, a low budget slasher film. Not long after he was cast in a lead rol in the ABC television sitcome Bosom Buddies.
Director, and former child star, Ron Howard saw Hanks in Bosom Buddies and in a guest appearance on Happy Days and later cast Hanks in the lead role in Splash.
