Martin Alan “Marty” Feldman, July 8, 1934 – December 2, 1982

Born on this day in 1934.

Actor and Comedian Marty Feldman was born on July 8, 1934. He may be best remembered as the lovable Hunchback Igor in Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein.

Feldman dropped out of school to pursue a career as a trumpet player. In the 1950s and 1960s he worked as a writer on British radio and TV.

He was diagnosed with hyperthyrodism in 1961 which affected his eyes and gave him his distinct, trademark appearance.

He appeared on Dean Martin’s show in the 1960s and in 1970 had his own show called The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine.

Feldman died in Mexico City on December 2, 1982 after suffering a massive heart attack. He was filming the movie Yellowbeard.
