One more day…actually about seven more months…

Before Les Miserables premiers on the silver screen.

I’ve written before that I love this musical. My wife and I saw the 25th Anniversary tour at the Kennedy Center for OUR 25th anniversary. We had seen it originally in our first year of marriage. It fit.

The musical is an amazing telling of Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Miserables set in 19th century France, and it’s finally coming to the movies in December of this year.

The movie version stars Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine and the incredible Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thénardier.

As amazing as the stage production is, and as amazing as the movie appears it will be read the book. The knowledge of the hsitory and understanding of the characters gives such a greater depth to the understanding and appreciation of the musical.

It’s been 25 years, I may have to read it again.

Of course, come December 14 I’m going to be in total geek meltdown. The Hobbit premiers on the same day.
