I posted earlier the list of books I read in 2011. And I stated that I wanted to increase the number I read for 2012. But I need some help in compiling that list. Granted, I’ll add more as the year progresses. But I need to add something classic, something spiritual, something fun.
I’ll be reading through the Bible again in 2012 and I’ll use one of the plans I talked about at Richmond Bible Examiner.
But here’s what I have on the shelf, or intend to have on the shelf for 2012.
Against All Things Ending: The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant
Stephen R. Donaldson
This is the final (I think) book in The Last Thomas Covenant Chronicles. A Christmas present and already waiting on my desk.
The Hobbit
J.R.R. Tolkien
With the movie coming out in December, I plan to re-read The Hobbit. I may be adventurous enough to re-read The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well, but I may ust watch the movies as I’m doing whilst I write this post.
The Years of Lyndon Johnson, Vol. 3: Master Of The Senate
and The Passage of Power: The Years of Lyndon Johnson
Robert A. Caro
I read the first two books in Caro’s series on Lyndon Johnson several years ago, so I’m a bit behind. I got the Master of the Senate for Christmas and look forward to the release of The Passage of Power later in the year.
Out of Oz: The Final Volume in the Wicked Years
Gregory Maguire
I’ve been waiting for this book and almost bought it in November, but was still enough to wait since I thought I’d be wrapped up with Nanowrimo. I’ll be getting it soon.
In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir
Richard B. Cheney
I’m finishing up Decision Points by George W. Bush as the year ends. I want to hear things from Dick Cheney’s perspective. Love him or hate him (and I love him) he’s a fascinating individual.
Every Body Matters: Strengthening Your Body to Strengthen Your Soul
Gary Thomas
I received a free copy of this book from Zondervan with the request that I post a review towards the end of January. I’ll be posting more about that at the appropriate time.
The Tehran Initiative
Joel C. Rosenberg
I read (actually listened to) The Twelfth Imam last year, this is the follow up to that book. I look forward to it.
The Dynamic Dominion: Realignment and the Rise of Two-Party Competition in Virginia, 1945-1980
Frank B. Atkinson
I’ve been meaning to read Frank’s book on Virginia politics for some time now. This year, I’ll get to it.
Bag of Bones
Stephen King
Okay, I’m skeptical about this one. I got as a perk from my Klout account. I’ll give it a try.
But that’s only 9 books. 10 if you count the Bible.
Help me get my list to 25.
What else should I plan to read?
