Poll Shows Perry Jumping Into Double-Digit Lead

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary voters, taken Monday night, finds Perry with 29% support. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who ran unsuccessfully for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008, earns 18% of the vote, while Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman who won the high-profile Ames Straw Poll in Iowa on Saturday, picks up 13%.

Perry stirred up some dust by saying with regard to Fed Chair Ben Bernanke, “If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don’t know what y’all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas…I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost … treasonous in my opinion.”

Oh, if they’d only applied the same scrutiny to the current White House occupant.
