Now they're “Spring Spheres?”
When are we going to wake up and call out political correctness for the absolute stupidity that it is?
Read this:
Don’t Call Them Easter Eggs, Intolerant Monsters! They are Spring Spheres
Lori Ziganto at Red State
A Seattle public school has decided that Easter eggs are super offensive and not politically correct. They’ve renamed them Spring Spheres.
Oh. Good. Grief.
The word “Easter” isn't really based in Christianity. Right Division explains:
The name “Easter” originated with the names of an a
ncient Goddess and God. The Venerable Bede, (672-735 AD.) a Christian scholar, first asserted in his book De Ratione Temporum that Easter was named after Eostre (a .k.a. Eastre). She was the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. Similar “Teutonic dawn goddess of fertility [were] known variously as Ostare, Ostara, Ostern, Eostra, Eostre, Eostur, Eastra, Eastur, Austron and Ausos.” Her name was derived from the ancient word for spring: “eastre.”
The association of the term “Easter” evolved (pardon me) over a period of time to be connected with the Celebration of the Resurrection.
So the point is, if you're going to be intolerant of religion, at least know what you're talking about.
And naming them “Spheres?”
Spheres are round. Defined as “any round body or figure having the surface equally distant from the center at all points.”
Eggs are not round.
No wonder Johnny can't read. His teachers can't either.
