But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
~ Matthew 24:36
I am not one to spend a lot of time and energy studying the “End Times.” I have always been of the mindset that my job is not to figure out how and when Christ will return. My job is to be ready, whether it be before I finish this post or whether I’m receiving a postmortem examination.
I don’t worry about the Mayan calendar. And quite frankly my personal, not based in theology at all, theory is that if someone actually did figure out the time and the hour…God could change His mind.
But I can’t help but read and listen to the news these days and not at least wonder. Is it soon?
Egypt, Libya, Haiti, Japan.
Are these the wars and earthquakes and rumors of wars?
Maybe, maybe not.
But I was reminded today of an old gospel song. The summer ministry team I traveled with sang this in just about every concert we did.
This clip is of “The Cathedrals” singing “Redemption Draweth Nigh.” Yeah, the sideburns and the suits are 1970s cheesy. But the harmony and the message still resonate.
